Canada

Canada location information schemes.

  • CRESTA
  • FSA
  • FSA-LDU

Required information

These location information schemes require the following information:

  • The CRESTA location information scheme requires the country name, abbreviation, or code, as well as a valid CRESTA name or code.
  • The FSA scheme requires the country name, abbreviation, or code, as well as a valid province name or code and a valid three-character (letter-digit-letter) FSA code in the Subarea field.
  • The FSA-LDU scheme requires the country name, abbreviation, or code, as well as a valid province name or code, a valid FSA code in the Subarea field, and a valid six-character (letter-digit-letter-digit-letter-digit) FSA-LDU code in the Postal field.
Important:

Do not include a space between the FSA and LDU codes in the Postal field.

Applicable geocode match levels

Verisk Synergy Studio matches these sets of information at the following levels:

  • At a CRESTA centroid geocode match level if you supply the country and CRESTA (CRESTA location information scheme)
  • At a County centroid geocode match level if you supply the country, province (area), and FSA (subarea) code (FSA location information scheme)
  • At a postal code centroid geocode match level if you supply the country, province (area), FSA (subarea), and FSA-LDU (postal) code (FSA-LDU location information scheme)

Resolution levels

The following table compares the resolution levels of the location information schemes for Canada:

Note:

If you supply only country and province (area) data for exposures in Canada, Verisk Synergy Studio imports these locations but does not geocode them. You can then use these imported locations for geospatial analysis accumulation purposes only.

If you supply country, province (area), latitude, and longitude data for exposures in Canada (and you select the "Preserve existing latitudes and longitudes" import option), you can use these locations for both accumulation and analysis. In this case, Verisk Synergy Studio imports these locations and maintains the geocodes that you have supplied. Verisk Synergy Studio automatically back fills the location information that you have supplied with the closest supported FSA (subarea) and LDU (postal) information. In addition, Verisk Synergy Studio determines whether the province (area) that you have provided is appropriate for the latitude and longitude combination that you have supplied and either maintains the province (area) that you have provided or back fills this field with the province (area) that corresponds to the latitude and longitude that you have supplied.
