Verisk Synergy Studio geocode match levels for street-level address data

Supported geocode match levels, and combinations of geocode match level reporting fields, for supplied street-level address data.

Table 1. Verisk Synergy Studio Geocode match levels for street-level address data
Geocode matching level (user interface) GeoMatchLevelCode (in tLocation database table) Enhanced GeoMatchLevelCode (in tLocation database table) Description
Point Point PT The highest resolution geocoding available because it is obtained from GPS or satellite images directly on the building. Point-level geocodes are only available when licensing Premium International Geocoding (for 57 countries) or Data Augmentation (US only) in Verisk Synergy Studio.
Parcel Point PRCL Verisk Synergy Studio places the geocode at the centroid for the land parcel of a given property. This level is the second highest available geocoding resolution. No interpolation is required because each parcel centroid in this parcel-level dataset has a specific address for matching. Parcel-level geocodes are only available when licensing Premium International Geocoding (for 57 countries) or Data Augmentation (US only) in Verisk Synergy Studio.

Address

(Exact Address)
ADDR SEGI

Street Segment Imputed

Verisk Synergy Studio finds the address in a street segment that has a geocode for the endpoints. All key street components match to expected values and acceptable city/state or zip code values. Verisk Synergy Studio calculates (interpolates) the relative location of the address between the segment endpoints.

Street Segment Imputed

Verisk Synergy Studio imputes a geocode from a matched street segment. However, if the street number is out of range or if some of the key street components, such as street name, directional(s), or street type, are changed during the street validation match, then the highest possible Geo. Match Level Code is a "Relaxed" match.
ZIP9 RLXA BLCK (ZIP9 centroid) The streetseqnumstart and streetseqnumend of the street segment are the same (ZIP9 Single Address).
ZIP9 RLXA BLCK (ZIP9 centroid) The address is found in a street segment, but the street segment has no geocodes available. However, a ZIP9 centroid is available.
ZIP9 ZIP9 BLCK (ZIP9 centroid) Only a ZIP9 is included, or the ZIP9 cannot be validated.

Street Imputed

The address is not found in a street segment, but the address is between the start and end range for the matched street. Verisk Synergy Studio calculates (interpolates) the location of the address between the street endpoints.

Street centroid

The street number is not available on the input address, but the street is short enough to have a useful centroid. The house number could be missing from or incorrect in the input address.

Subarea 2 SUB2 SUB2 Verisk Synergy Studio returns a geographic- or population-weighted subarea 2 centroid if one is available.
Postal Code centroid POST POST The street address is not found, and street centroid is not available, or the street is too long to have a useful centroid. In addition, no subarea 2 centroid is available. Verisk Synergy Studio returns a population-weighted zip code centroid if one is available, or the centroid may be the geometric center, depending on the data source.
City centroid CITY CITY The street address is not found, and a street centroid is not available, or the street is too long to have a useful centroid. In addition, no postal centroid is available. Verisk Synergy Studio returns a city centroid. The centroid may be the geometric center or the center of population mass, depending on the data source.
Subarea centroid CNTY SUBA Verisk Synergy Studio places the geocode at the computed center of a county, region, or large administrative area. The center may be the geometric center or the center of population mass, depending on the data source.
Country COUN COUN Verisk Synergy Studio provides a geocode match level but does not assign a unique latitude or longitude for the exposure.1
Not Found NONE NONE Verisk Synergy Studio cannot determine a unique geocode for the exposure.
1 Exceptions: For Sint Maarten and Saint Martin, Verisk Synergy Studio assigns a unique latitude/longitude when the COUN resolution is present.
