Remapping

Verisk Synergy Studio may remap a set of location data that you have entered to another set of location data in either of the following circumstances.

  • If a model update includes modified (updated) boundary data, some older data may include postal codes and other area codes/names that are out of date. In this case, Verisk Synergy Studio remaps the outdated set of location information that you have supplied to the corresponding updated set of location information. As a result, you may not be able to identify the updated locations.
  • If a model requires more information than you have supplied, Verisk Synergy Studio remaps the set of location information that you have supplied to the corresponding set of location information that includes the levels of data that the model requires. For example, if a model requires postal-level information, but you have only supplied country and area information, where possible, Verisk Synergy Studio remaps the set of country and area information that you have supplied to the corresponding set of location data that includes country, area (or CRESTA), and postal information. In another example, suppose that you have imported only country information and geocodes for your U.S. location data. If the model also requires the U.S. state information for each location for analysis, Verisk Synergy Studio remaps the geocode information that you have supplied to include the corresponding U.S. states as well as the geocodes.

If Verisk Synergy Studio remaps a supplied set of location data for an exposure in response to a model need for a higher level of resolution, the geocode match level that Verisk Synergy Studio reports may reflect the higher remapped level of resolution rather than the resolution level of your original set of location data for the affected exposure.

Note: In cases in which Verisk Synergy Studio has remapped a specific set of location data to another set of location information in the database, Verisk Synergy Studio notes the identifier of the new set of location information in the RemappedGeographySID field within the tGeography table in the Geography database.
