AIR Crop Hail Model for the United States
The AIR Crop Hail Model for the United States captures crop losses in the continental United States (excluding New England) resulting from hail during severe thunderstorms. Detailed modeling of losses from hail damage includes wheat, corn, cotton, rice, soybeans, and barley. Losses from hail damage to other crops – such as tobacco and fruits – are estimated statistically, on the basis of historical experience. Losses are reported for production plan and crop hail policies.
Note the Crop Hail model is independent of the AIR Multiple Peril Crop Insurance (MPCI) Model for the United States which enables users to analyze and assess potential losses to the MPCI business before and after government protection is applied.
