AIR Extratropical Cyclone Model for Europe

The AIR Extratropical Cyclone Model for Europe models damaging winds for much of northern and western Europe. This model has been updated to include the AIR Coastal Flood Model for Great Britain. Some things to note:

  • These models will share the same catalog.

  • The model supports country and postal area. Postal sector records are not supported.

  • Flood losses will be combined with wind losses at the country and postal area resolutions.

  • Coastal flooding for Great Britain will continue to be part of the World All Perils v20.0 archive event set.

  • An updated Industry Loss File (ILF) will be provided as a standalone event set for coastal flooding in Great Britain.

  • Four historical surge events have been added to the AIR Extratropical Cyclone Model for Europe:

    • 1953 North Sea Flood (Marquee event ID 1)

    • 1991 Undine (Marquee event ID 9)

    • 2013 Xaver (Marquee event ID 29

    • 2014 Anne (Marquee event ID 31)

  • The AIR Extratropical Cyclone Model for Europe RDS event will not be updated as part of this update.

  • One Extreme Disaster Scenario (EDS) will be added for the AIR Extratropical Cyclone Model for Europe (only), a no-levee version of 1953 (where the wind catalog information is identical to the actual 1953 event, Marquee Event ID 1). It will include wind and flood losses.
