CATRADER vs Touchstone Re

Basic operational differences between CATRADER and Touchstone Re lie primarily in the user interface design; the aggregate modelling approach in relation to market share analyses has not changed. To navigate Touchstone Re if you are familiar with CATRADER use the following road map.

Access portfolio list

When CATRADER is first opened, the Issuing Company List screen displays existing companies. To access the Portfolio List screen, click on the top navigation bar. Click to toggle back to the company list.

When Touchstone Re is first opened, the Companies pane displays existing companies. To access the list of portfolios, click the Portfolios tab. To return to the companies list, click the Companies tab.

Create/manage a company

In the Issuing Company List screen, click Add to create a new company. Double-click the name of an existing company in the list to open and view associated exposures and programs.

In the Companies pane, click to create a new company. Double-click the name of a company already in the list to open and view associated exposures and programs.

Create/manage a program

Once a company is established, open the Company Detail screen and select the Programs tab; double-click on the program to open it for viewing or edit.

In the company Programs pane,

  • Click to create a new program.

  • Double-click the name of a program already in the list to open and view.

Note there are three tabs in this pane; the new Relationships tab provides drag-and-drop visualization of complex reinsurance structures. Note also that each layer can now be associated independently with its own set of perils.

Create/manage a portfolio

In the Portfolio List screen, click Add to create a new portfolio. Double-click the name of an existing portfolio in the list, or the Master List, to view its contents.

In the Portfolios pane, click to create a new portfolio. Double-click the name of a portfolio already in the list to open and view associated exposures and programs. Note that in addition to static portfolios, there are now also dynamic portfolios.

Run an analysis

Click on the top navigation bar to open the Analysis screen; click once your settings are established. You may also run an analysis from other screens including the Portfolio List and the Program screen.

To run a single program – From within a specific program or the All Programs list pane within a company click Run Analysis .

To run a portfolio analysis – Open the portfolio containing the programs to be analyzed and click Run Analysis .

View analysis results

Once the analysis is complete, from the Analysis screen move from tab to tab along the bottom of the results pane as appropriate. Additional selections are available from the top navigation bar View menu.

Results are accessible in the Company > Results pane. Double-click on a specific results item to open and view the results; configure the settings at the top of the screen to filter the results.

Export results

While in the Analysis screen select Analysis > Export or Analysis > Export DLF.

Select Export > Results from the top navigation bar to export results. Refer to Results for more information.

Import exposures

You may import exposures as follows:

  • From the top navigation bar of the Issuing Company List screen select Company > Import.

  • From the top navigation bar of the Company Detail screen select Company > Exposures > Import.

  • Select Import > Exposure from the top navigation bar. Refer to Import Exposure Data for more information.

  • Open the Company Data tab and then import either from the Exposure Sets pane or from within an existing exposure.

Import one or more companies

From the top navigation bar of the Issuing Company List screen select Company > Import > Company. You may also import companies from the Master Contract List screen; click Import.

Import a CLF

In the Company Detail screen either select Company > CLFs from the top navigation bar, or click the CLFs button at the bottom of the screen. Either will pull up the CLF Manager where you can install (import) a CLF.

  • Select Import > Company Loss File from the top navigation bar. Refer to Import Company Loss File for more information.

  • Open the Company Data tab and then import from the Company Loss Set Manager pane.

Manage exposures

An exposure set is unique to a company, and a company may have only one exposure set. The exposure can be associated with one or many programs within that company. Exposure is imported (Company > Exposures > Import) or manually entered (Company > Exposures > [Area/subarea] > [Exposure Type]) into a company and managed at the company level.

A company can be associated with more than one exposure set. The exposure set is unique to the company and may be associated with one or many programs within that company. For more information refer to the topic Manage Exposures. Exposures are now displayed on a map in the Exposure Set pane; for more information on this exciting new feature refer to the topic Maps.

Manage event sets

While in the Analysis screen select Tools > Event Set > Manager from the top navigation bar. There are additional selections off of Tools > Event Set.

Select Admin > Administration Console > Event Set Management from the top navigation bar. At this time users can view events sets and delete any ALERT event set. Refer to the topic Event Set Management for more information.

EP adjustments (a.k.a. Program Loss Adjustments)

When establishing a program (Company Detail > Programs), select the EP Adjustments tab to defined adjustments by model.

Open the EP Adjustments tab in the Program Details pane. As in CATRADER, EP adjustments are applied by program and by model.
