AIR Typhoon Model for Mainland China

The AIR Typhoon Model for Mainland China is part of the AIR basin-wide typhoon model for the northwest Pacific Ocean. The model features a single unified stochastic catalog with other AIR-modeled countries and territories in the region, including Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao, Vietnam, the Philippines, Guam, Saipan, and South Korea. The basin-wide model allows global insurers and reinsurers to seamlessly assess typhoon risk to portfolios and policies that span multiple countries while, at the same time, allowing local direct insurers to analyze China-specific risk. This model captures the effects of tropical storm and typhoon winds and precipitation-induced flooding on insured properties in China.
