Convert to binary ULF

Steps to convert CSV loss files to binary ULF files.

Tools > Convert to Binary ULF

Until now, clients could export analysis results to CSV files containing event losses organized by geography and line of business. These CSV files were manipulated outside of the application to customize view of risk for various business purposes. The Convert CSV to Binary ULF tool allows clients to convert the CSV loss files (generated by either CATRADER or Touchstone Re) to binary format (.evi) within the application. During conversion, the file can be associated to a new (on-the-fly) or to an existing company.

Note:

A ULF is a modified DLF.

Procedure

  1. From the global menu bar, select Tools > Convert to Binary ULF.
  2. In the Convert CSV to Binary ULF dialog box:
    1. Identify the Source file.
      • This file must have an .uvi extension.

      • It is essential that all file types (10k, RDS, HIST) associated with the selected file be present in the same folder; they will appear in the CSV File List.

      • Missing files are noted with a yellow triangle; missing file errors must be resolved.

    2. Enter a unique Loss Set Name.
    3. Enter comments if necessary.
    4. To change the default number of cores established for this conversion, update the min (minimum) and max (maximum) settings.
    5. To export the converted file to a designated folder, enter a destination path; be sure to include a unique file name.
    6. To import the converted file into a specific company, enable the Import to Company check box and then enter the company name.
      • If the company does not exist it will be created.

      • Select the Generate Loss Market Shares checkbox to generate loss market shares for the loss set.

      • To change the currency rate, make selections from the drop-down menus.

    7. Enable Close after conversion to close the dialog once the conversion is complete.
  3. Select Convert to initiate the conversion.
