Import a company

You can import a company or set of companies to a shared network location that is accessible to Touchstone Re.

Import > Companies

You must not modify the company files or file structure before importing.

Procedure

To import a company or set of companies:

  1. In Touchstone Re, select Import > Companies.

The default import type is "Company".

  2. In the Source Files field, click and browse to the location of the company or set of companies that you want to import. Then select the company and click Open.

For Touchstone Re companies, the file includes a .cmp extension.

  3. In the Import List grid:
    1. Select the companies to import. Multiple companies will be listed in the grid if they were included in the exported .cmp file that you are importing.
Company import now automatically populates the Import Company Name column by adding a suffix to each name in the Company Name (Source) column.
    2. To manually update a company name, double-click in the Import Company Names field and entering a new name.
    3. To update a group of company names copy/paste imported names to an Excel spreadsheet, update the name in the spreadsheet, then copy/paste the new names back into the company import list.
Note that while you can copy/paste both Company Name (Source) and Import Company Names data into an Excel spreadsheet, you may paste only Import Company Names data back into Touchstone Re. The Company Name (Source) column is read-only.
Renamed companies are indicated in bold and with an icon in the Renamed column. A message indicates the count of companies that will be renamed upon import.
  4. For Touchstone Re companies only, enter a company loss database suffix. Since Touchstone Re companies can have Company Loss Association (CLA) files from multiple databases, this suffix field enables users to give a distinctive name to the CLAs that are attached to their database during an import.

The field is available only if the Touchstone Re company or companies include CLAs.

  5. Optionally, clear the Close after Import check box if you want to continue importing items.
  6. Click Import.

If a warning message appears, click it for information.

  7. If applicable, click Close to exit ImportExpress.
