| Summary | A subset of events in the updated Verisk Inland Flood Model for the United States have higher hazard than intended, leading to a modest over-estimation of modeled losses. |
| Description | For some events there exists more flood hazard than intended by way of depth and/or event footprint area. This unintended flood hazard mainly manifests as pluvial risk coming from tropical storm sources which should have been removed in the updated release. The domain-wide loss over-estimation is about 3% on a ground up aggregate basis measured against the Verisk all-lines Industry Exposure Database, with a weighting toward coastal states. The planned model revision will iterate the model Industry Loss File version from 3.0.0 (Touchstone Re 13.3) to 3.0.1 (Touchstone Re 13.3.1) and the modeled result will be a modest reduction in losses from 3.0.0 to 3.0.1 assuming a broad domain-wide portfolio. NOTE: The flood losses included in the Verisk Tropical Cyclone Model for the United States are unaffected by this issue. |
