Event Filter Rules Tab

You can define rules that capture the parameters of an event in order to create an event set filter for a catastrophe peril analysis. Example For detailed information about defining an event set filter, see Applying an Event Set Filter.

Consider the following when defining event set filters:

The Touchstone event filters use only the first landfall details for events that make multiple landfalls.

If you define multiple filter criteria, the analysis considers only the events that meet all the criteria you have specified.

If the event filter that you have defined excludes all events, or the filters that you have specified are not supported for the event set that you are running, the analysis proceeds and may potentially return no losses.

You can define rules and location filters only for earthquakes, tropical cyclones, and terrorism events.

For Wind events, if you define a polygon, Touchstone filters the events by making sure that the first landfall point is within this polygon.

You can define filters by model ID and event ID for all perils.

Once you have defined a filter, click Apply to save your changes before defining additional filters.

The Rules tab within the Event Filter window contains the following fields and button that enable you to define rules filters for an event set filter:

Field

Description

Parameter

Specifies the parameters to include in this event set filter. In the list, select the parameter that you want to include. Then, select a condition and specify the desired value or lower and upper bounding values, as appropriate. For more information, see Parameters, Conditions, and Values for Rules.

Condition

Specifies the condition to apply to the parameter that you have selected. In the list, select the condition that you want to apply. Then, specify the desired value or lower and upper bounding values, as appropriate. For more information, see Parameters, Conditions, and Values for Rules.

Value1

Specifies the value or lower bounding value to apply to the condition and parameter that you have selected. Enter or select the desired value or lower bounding value. Then, if necessary, specify the desired upper bounding value. For more information, see Parameters, Conditions, and Values for Rules.

Value2

Specifies the upper bounding value to apply, along with the lower bounding value, to the condition and parameter that you have selected. If the condition that you have selected requires an upper bounding value, enter or select the desired upper bounding value. For more information, see Parameters, Conditions, and Values for Rules.

Delete selected items

Enables you to delete the selected filter(s). To delete one or more filters on this tab, select all the filters that you want to delete and click .
