Getting Started

Touchstone^® enables insurance underwriters, catastrophe risk managers, claims managers, and others to assess the catastrophe loss potential of individual risks, policies, and portfolios.

When you open Touchstone, the window includes a global menu bar and the application's Home page.

The online Help describes key features of Touchstone and provides an overview of the Touchstone workflow and components with basic instructions for performing common tasks. You can access the Help from within Touchstone or from the Client Portal, provided that you have a login to the Client Portal.

•       To access the main Help system from within Touchstone, click on the far right of the global menu bar. When the Help system opens, you can resize the window. You can browse the table of contents for topics that interest you, or, to search for content, enter text in the Search field, click Go, and then click a topic in the Search Results pane. If the Contents pane disappears, click the Contents icon on the Help toolbar to redisplay it.

•       Context-sensitive Help is available for some functions. ExampleIn the New Detailed Loss Analysis pane, select Analysis Settings and then click to the right of Demand Surge. In the Demand Surge Options window that opens, notice the Help icon in the upper right corner. Clicking the Help icon opens Help associated with the dialog box. When context-sensitive Help is available, the Help icon appears in the pane, window, or dialog box. Clicking the icon displays information specific to the pane, window, or dialog box.

You may find the following tips helpful:

•       To create a shortcut to a page in the application Help, right-click in the page and then click Create shortcut on the shortcut menu that appears. You can also right-click on a topic in the Contents pane and then click Copy shortcut.

•       If you access the Help from the Client Portal, you can use your browser's Favorites or Bookmarks feature to bookmark content. (After closing the browser, you will need to log in again the next time that you select the favorite or bookmark.)

•       If you have Acrobat on your computer, you can right-click in a page and then print it, to a regular printer or to PDF. If you use this method, close the navigation pane before printing the page to PDF so that you do not include the Contents pane.

•       You can copy-and-paste content from Help tables.
