Note that the description includes the magnitude of earthquake and, in some instances, the area affected by the earthquake. For more information regarding the specific area affected by an event, see fields:

Indicates whether the epicenter occurred inland or offshore.

  • O = Offshore
  • I = Inland

 Longitude coordinate where the epicenter of the event occurred. Values will be negative for locations west of the prime meridian up to the international date line. They will be positive for locations east of the prime meridian.numeric9 (8,3)  
 Latitude coordinate where the epicenter of the event occurred.  Values will be positive for locations north of the equator and negative south of the equator.numeric9 (8,3)
